Melissa Brunner (she/her) is a contemporary Deaf, Queer, and Disabled multidisciplinary visual artist based in Guelph, Ontario. Her practice draws from lived experience, she observes and transforms complex emotional landscapes to create space for processing, release, and community connection. Her work embraces play and experimentation across mediums. Her upbringing within the Deaf culture has certainly infused and shaped her work through her “Deaf eyes”, her use of curiosity, vibrancy, and tactile materials. Her work has been supported through artistic grants from the Ontario Arts Council, Canada Council for the Arts, participation in Deaf arts initiatives within the community, and she has been featured in collaborative exhibitions including Deaf Interiors and Neophyte Club.
